The successor of Samsung Galaxy Grand; Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 was launched today in India with additional and better features.
The device will be priced between Rs 22,990 to Rs 24, 990 and will be available to the public from the first week of January 2014.
The Grand 2 has a tough task ahead of it. It will have to follow the success of the Galaxy Grand, one of the bestselling smartphones this year. To do so, Samsung has made some significant improvements in the specs. In terms of design, the Grand takes off from the recently launched Note 3, which had a faux leather back. This makes an appearance on the Grand 2 and lends it a better look than any plain glossy piece of plastic could.
The Galaxy Grand 2 features a 16:9 720p display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It comes with support for Samsung's Multi Window feature that allows multitasking on the device’s large screen. The internals have also been beefed up as the Galaxy Grand 2 is powered by a Qualcomm chipset (most likely the Snapdragon 400) with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and there's a healthy 1.5GB of RAM on board, that should ideally deliver a smooth and lag free experience. It runs on Android 4.3, and there is no word on whether it will get Android KitKat.
Key features of Grand 2 smartphone include an 8 megapixel camera and a bigger 5.25 inch 1280x720 TFT screen. The screen has a 16:9 HD ratio or a wide angle ratio, which is well-suited for movies, playing games, etc. It is a dual-SIM phone. The processor is clocked at 1.2 GHz and the smartphone has 1.5 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory. It has a microSD slot with 64 GB as the limit. The front camera is 1.9MP and is capable of shooting and recording in HD mode. The smartphones supports WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 version, GPS ＋ Glonass and USB 2.0. The smartphone runs Android 4.3 version. The batter is 2,600mAh and Samsung is promising 10 hours of playback and 17 hours of calls on the Galaxy Grand 2.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 comes in three color versions: black, white and pink.
