The Xiaomi Mi 3 has again been sold out on Flipkart. This time around it has been sold out within 2 mins if not faster. Last week, when the phone went on sale it was sold out within the first hour and it crashed Flipkart's servers which became overloaded with demand.
For the second lot, Xiaomi and Flipkart even allowed consumers who had pre-registered for the first round of sales and added a new round of prospective consumers. We tried to buy the product to check, but we were unable to buy the product as the site first refused to recognise that we had pre-registered and then it gave an error. Many people had managed to complete a transaction for the Mi 3 via the Flipkart mobile app, but this also did not work.
That said, many people have indeed managed to complete a transaction for the device. The Mi 3 is facing unprecedented demand, however, in its last round of sale Xiaomi brought less than 10,000 units to India, while the pre-registrations were in excess of 1,00,000. It's unknown how many units were up for sale in this round.
Flipkart and Xiaomi open a third round of pre-registrations for sales of the device on August 5. Registrations for the next sale will open at 6pm on 29th July.
